Stamp Camp - another beauty!

I think this is my favourite card I made on the Stamp Camp weekend. Michelle taught it to us as a workshop, and she was kind enough to credit me with the inspiration for it - lucky the windows were closed!!

We used pages from an old book on this one. Ripping up a book may be a bit scary for some people, but it was just an old paperback from an op shop, so it's recycling really. Can you see the print on the butterfly's wings? There's a piece of book page stuck on the back of the acetate, and coloured with re-inkers. You could add Perfect Pearls or other sparkly medium if you like a bit of bling .....

Card recipe: Cardstock: Black, sage green, Kaszazz; page from old paperback, acetate sheet. Ink: Black Stazon, gold pigment ink.

Stamps: Kazsazz Butterfly, swirl, flutterby word.

Extras: Dimensional magic, Distress Ink Reinkers - Shabby Shutters, Marmalade, staples, Mat Pack and piercing tool, d/s tape, mounting tape.

Uncharted territory ...

I've been wanting to have a play around with some paint effects for the Stampers 10 club I'm running next week, and had the chance to last night, so made a card which features crackle medium on it. This stuff is great fun, and made me think of old weathered painted timber, which suits this stamp set with it's nautical look. The set is called "Uncharted Territory" and includes this lovely quote.

Recipe: Cardstock: Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss, Watercolour paper, SU; Ink: Basic Black, Baja Breeze, Choc Chip; Tempting Turqoise, SU; Stampin Pastels, SU; Stamps: Uncharted Territory, SU; Tools: Mat Pack and Piercing Tool, SU.

My Stamp Camp winning entry ...

A really fun part of stamp camp is going in all the competitions. This year, there was a heap of card categories, as well as a "Design your own name plaque" comp. And the winner of that one was .... me!

It was made with a large scalloped edged chipboard circle. I don't know about you, but I find chipboard about the most uninspiring material around - just boring grey - that is, until I paint it! I painted mine with antique white acrylic paint, and then I was off. I enjoyed making them so much I made one for each of the girls, to take home as a present.
My winning one is first, then all the girls' ones - they are colour co-ordinated with their crocheted blankets.

More Stamp Camp Goodness....

Hi there, after a frantic day making a zebra costume for the Little Princess, I've finally got a cup of coffee and a minute to blog my next stamp camp creation. Michelle gave us a pack of the new Kaszazz Country cardstock, (lovely colours and a linen texture, yum!) and asked us to create a card with it. She also included a freebie stamp in each goodie bag - mine was a Lucy's Dragonfly, so I used that on my card. Here it is ...

Card recipe: Cardstock: Kaszazz Country range, white; DP: SU; Ribbon: SU Chocolate Chip grosgrain; Cutting and punching: SU eyelet punch, Nestabilities label dies; Colouring: Twinkling H2Os; Ink: SU Chocolate Chip, River Rock, versamark; black detail embossing powder.

I haven't used my Twinkling H2Os in ages, so it was lovely to have them out for a play. I embossed the image before colouring with black detail embossing powder.

Also today on my zebra costume adventures, I had a rummage in a $2 shop and found the coolest little book light which opens up by itself when you press a button - and it was only $3.50!! I also found some labels to try Michelle's label technique, and some lacy silver border stickers. Lincraft are having a sale and in there I found one of those tracing wheels for $0.99, some mini dressmaking pins for $0.99 and an EK success film strip punch for $3. I also picked up a couple of packets of clear epoxy stickers for $3 each, one round and one square - stay tuned for what I will do with them. So lots of creative stuff happening at the Spot ... but not much study!

Stamp Camp fun!

Hi everyone! Haven't posted for a bit because last week I was working on a uni project due Friday and packing for stamp camp on the weekend. It was so much fun, I had an absolute ball. We stamped non-stop - only breaks were for food and sleep! Over the next few posts I'll be posting some of the cool things I made over the weekend.

The first one is a card I made for the "floral card" competition.
Card recipe: Cardstock: Black, White, SU Pink Passion
Stamps: SU Paint Prints (retired); Polka Dot Punches
Inks: SU Pink Passion, Tempting Turquoise, Certainly Celery
Ribbon: Spotlight
Embellishments: Eyelets, Dymo Caption Maker, staples

I missed the closing of the Mojo Monday sketch for last week, so was unable to put my link on the Mojo Monday blog. But this time I made it! Funny how things stick in your head - I read this quote this morning on my friend Michelle's facebook page, then this afternoon when I looked at the sketch it popped into my head again. It's a great quote, don't you think?

Mojo Monday!

Hi! I've had a go at a Mojo Monday sketch, what do you think?

I'm quite happy with it, except I think it would have looked better if the leaf under the greeting was the other way around.

If you'd like to have a look at what others have done with this sketch, just click on the "Mojo Monday" blinky on the right hand side of this page.

Here's the recipe:

And by the way, do you like my watermark? I got it from Karen Giron's blog, http://www.kgiron.blogspot.com/. She can make you your own customised watermark from her very sweet designs. Check them out!

Hi! Welcome to my blog!

Hi there! Welcome to my blog and thanks for visiting. I'm so pleased to finally have a webspace that looks pretty - if you like the background, you can get your own at Shabby blogs.com - just click on the link at the top of the page on the left.

On the right you'll find links to the Stampin Up! Catalogue and Idea Book, and the new mini catalogue - just released at the begining of this month. If you'd like to order anything just drop me an email.

A little further down you will find a link to Mojo Monday. I'd like to try to take part in this sketch challenge each week. I find sketches a great way to "kick start" my creativity, and challenge me to use products I already have.
